Stephen Vletas - Work to live not live to work.

After graduating from the University of Southern California in 1977, I left the city life (and the traffic and smog) for the mountains and skiing of Jackson Hole. And since you can’t ski too much in the summer, fly fishing was a natural that turned into a passion and a profession. Reading and writing, well, those are passions too, and something you can do anywhere. I prefer writing in the morning, though on a powder day, I’m flexible. Flexibility and adaptability are the keys to most things, I believe, and I have followed that approach through endeavors around the world, always with a book nearby. I love to read any time, any place, everything from literary fiction and classics to spy thrillers. I am the author of The Bahamas Fly-Fishing Guide (Lyons Press), and I have written six editions of the Fodor’s Gold Guide Bahamas. I have also published numerous articles in national and international magazines on subjects ranging from finance and real estate to fly-fishing in salt water and wine tours in South America, plus I wrote a weekly film review column for six years for the Jackson Hole News. It was a lot of fun, and now I’m looking forward to sharing some thoughts about the books I read. Quirks, well, I’m a fly-fishing, powder skiing, reading junkie, and I balance my time between homes in Jackson Hole, and Mendoza, Argentina. I can also speak fluent Spanish. Si queres, nos hablamos en Castellano. I have just published a novel on Amazon/Kindle; Tight Loop, and I’m at work on a new novel; La Morocha, an epic love story/financial and political thriller set against Argentina’s Corralito, the financial crash of 2002. And coming soon: An updated Kindle edition of The Bahamas Fly-Fishing Guide.
